Unf*ckology - A Field Guide To Living With Guts and Confidence

Amy Alkon

To live with guts and confidence requires confronting our Saboteur. The part of us that has really good intentions; such good intentions that it keeps us safe and warm and free of stepping out too far. It’s our inner protector. The problem with the Saboteur is that it also keeps us free from exploring and pushing ourselves to show up bigger.

While confidence issues come from our inner ‘Saboteur,” it doesn’t help that we tend to hang out with those who, in their own well-meaning and self-limiting ways, tell us we don’t measure up i.e. your ideas are not viable and that while you are loved, that thing you want to do is “just crazy and you’ll be broke then dead,” penniless of course. Who wants to be the dead broke guy, literally? Dealing with our inner Saboteur and our external “saboteurs” (ahem, friends?) is necessary to keep us from second guessing and limiting our forward movement. It’s just one step in building our confidence to do more of what we want for ourselves at any given moment.

Alkon’s book also addresses the ancient wiring still present within us that connects to shame and guilt, their origins in tribal living, and how those real feelings can cause great resistance to our experiencing a confident life. As a result, you’ll come away with the knowledge that a confident life can be realized.
