6) Selfishness (lack of it)

The Virtue of Selfishness
Ayn Rand
You’re asking yourself right now; “I am not a selfish person! I give and give and give!,” and you are probably right. And, as a result, you are probably causing yourself a ton in missed opportunity and growth. I frequently run across this with clients, wonderful human beings who are great givers to everyone except themselves.
What happens is that, by putting yourself last, you lose opportunities for growth, curiosity, and fulfillment. Listen; people want you to grow, they want a bigger you! When you spend time building yourself to the next level, others will see and appreciate the changes. Trust this: your spouse, significant other, children, coworkers and friends will thoroughly enjoy engaging with you because you’ve spent time taking care of you. It doesn’t have to be grandiose or expensive, to be wonderful and useful. It just has to be — and this is most important — purposeful and relevant to YOU!
Be big. Be cool. Be hippo.
