On Forgiveness

“Forgiveness is above all a personal choice, a decision of the heart to go against natural instinct to pay back evil with evil.” – Pope John Paul II

Start out the new year with forgiving those who have wronged you. The opportunity to release your transgressor and also yourself and start anew.  To go and grow beyond where you are at this moment. 

Forgiveness can be very simple. It doesn’t replace justice. Justice requires that you are owed something. You need payback. 

Forgiveness is the release of a debt. It doesn’t mean I trust you, that we are now best friends, it’s about not making you pay me back what you cost me. And, the forgiveness is in your heart not necessarily made to them directly. Simple and very difficult.

Forgiveness shows that love is stronger than sin.
